Carter is now preparing for her first SRO race in the TC America class, joining Ricca Autosport at Barber Motorsports Park, September 4–6. She will be driving a Hyundai Elantra N, marking both her debut with a front-wheel drive vehicle and her first opportunity to represent Hyundai in professional competition. Ricca Autosport, currently dominates the series with 10 wins out of 11 races and holds an 84-point lead in the standings. “I’m thrilled to work with this team and Hyundai who has always been such a supporter of women in the sport.” said Carter. “I’ve been practicing on my SIM but I feel like both the coaching and exposure I get from AE Victory’s programs, put me in a good place no matter the challenge. I feel so prepared and always look forward to driving something new and different.”
Meanwhile, established AE Victory pros are broadening their influence in new arenas. Sarah Montgomery, who has been working closely with the team’s professional development coach Claudia Fulga, was invited by Jzilla Track Days founder James Marcellana to speak at their Ladies Day driving event at Atlanta Motorsports Park. Montgomery shared her story in two 30-minute sessions with more than 35 drivers. “I’ve known James a long time and in addition to running a very classy and professional track-day event, he has always been a huge advocate of women in the sport,” Montgomery said. “It was a very diverse crowd with people from all ages and backgrounds and everyone had really great questions for me afterwards.” Marcellana and his excellent staff were thrilled to add a ladies driving event to their schedule and he said of Montgomery: “Sarah was the perfect speaker for Jzilla Ladies Day. From her humble beginnings to 4 straight podiums in one of the most competitive series. She has witnessed it all in how to succees as a woman in motorsports.
Ashley Freiberg continues to expand her career both inside and outside the car as she reconnected with former team Kellymoss during the IMSA Motul Sportscar Grand Prix at Road America, August 1-3 to host a group of young Girl Scouts. “It’s so important to inspire younger generations of motorsports fans and especially young girls,” she added. “I have had many female role models, which is why I feel motivated to give back through programs like the girls scouts. ” In addition, the following weekend of August 8-10 at Road America Yokohama Tires provided Freiberg once again with the opportunity to join the commentary booth for the Mustang Cup and the Porsche Sprint Challenge. “When you’re driving, you’re so focused on your own team and goals, and it’s really fun to take a step back and watch other teams’ stories and strategies unfold.” Embracing opportunity and a growth mindset, Freiberg continues to share her skills and expertise through her own private coaching business. Team co-owner Erin Vogel, currently on temporary hiatus from driving, is proud of the impact AE Victory Racing is having. “The goal of AE Victory Racing is to really help each other develop on and off the track. We are not, of course, the sole reason for the success of our amazing drivers, but we hope to be a group that supports each other’s successes in a meaningful way.” Vogel recently represented AE Victory as a panelist at the launch of the SoCal chapter of Women in Motorsports North America, joining voices including chapter president Victoria Martinez Muela and driver Courtney Crone.
